Skin and CBD

Our skin is our body's largest organ and it is so important to take care of it. Did you know that the average American woman applies 168 chemicals and toxins to her face and body each morning as she gets herself ready for the day?. I know you are thinking, “that is a crazy number and the FDA would never allow this”… You would be incorrect. In fact, the FDA not only allows it, they also permit companies to hide harmful cancer causing agents and toxins in our soaps, lotions, makeup, toothpaste, deodorant, powders, laundry detergents, candles, etc., by hiding the actual ingredients under the word “FRAGRANCE”. When you see “FRAGRANCE” in any product, do not use or purchase it! Odds are, there is nothing in that product that will help you or your body in any way. Before you get disheartened and freaked out, do not fear, there is a solution to this. Look for products that have clearly worded labeling and lists every ingredient; can provide third party testing, and uses ingredients that are clean, toxin free and natural. You can also look up products and their safety/cleanliness rating using apps and websites that take the guesswork out of the entire process!

To the heart of the matter, just how does CBD or Cannabidoil help with skin irritations or problems? Well, CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that can be particularly helpful in reducing symptoms of Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis and Molluscum Contagiosum.

In a 2019 study, CBD did a wonderful job treating the irritating dryness and itching that can make these skin issues incredibly uncomfortable or even painful.

CBD can be ingested either through a tincture, capsule, edible, or applied topically. When ingested, CBD works from the inside out treating inflammation within the body. When applied topically to the affected area, CBD treats the inflammation and irritation in the exact spot that is affected. The absorption rate can vary depending on the quality of the plants, ingredients, and the formula used to create the product.

Another fabulous quality of CBD is that it has anti-aging properties! That's right y’all, not only does it help us feel better, move and live more comfortably, it also makes us look younger too! CBD slows our bodies oil production and therefore the anti-inflammatory effects on the oil producing glands help our skin to tighten up. CBD is thought to be a fabulous antioxidant and better for our skin than vitamins C and E because it does not have any free radicals breaking down our collagen.
